NSPM 12 – fumigation using methyl bromide
Export consignments in containers or the bulk cargoes in warehouses are first enclosed in
an airtight plastic or cloth "Tent" that have there edges carefully sealed.
Hot gas is then released into the enclosure and allowed to remain for a specified time,
after which the tent is opened and allowed to vent. Hot gas fumigation is a safer
alternative to poison gas fumigation for some applications.
This kind of fumigation is effective to treat infestations of certain pests such as dry-wood termites
that are not easily controlled by any other way. We carry out hot gas fumigation as prescribed in nspm
11 & 12 standards. Hot gassing will allow more effective distribution and penetration of the fumigant,
and will reduce the possibility of product damage and pest survival.
